From the Eau Claire
Leader-Telegram
Lyle Bien
Lyle was 68 years old when his one-year battle with colon
cancer ended Monday, Sept. 21, 2009. He died in his home on the farm he
loved, surrounded by his family and dear friends.
Lyle grew up in Pleasant Valley, and graduated from Memorial High School.
He went on to school for welding, electrical mechanics and pipe fitting -
all skills Lyle used at Uniroyal Tire Company and on his dairy farm, which
he started in high school. Lyle was always there to fix a neighbor's
tractor or give a bag of homegrown beef to those in need. Lyle loved the
Lord and the land. His Bible was as well worn as his hands. We as a family
celebrate that he has entered into the joy and rest of our Lord.
Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, James and Alta Bien; and his
brother, Duane Bien.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his children, Jodie Wellskopf,
Julie (Jad) Roeske and Jon (Rachael) Bien; seven grandchildren; and his
faithful farm dog, Etta.
The family will hold a private burial. A memorial service to celebrate
Lyle's life will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Valleybook Church,
412 S. Barstow St., Eau Claire. Fellowship and dessert will follow the
service.
